About Your Hosts:

Mr. Alexis Segerlind and Mrs. Melissa Segerlind started The Cottages at Autumn Lake on July 2, 2007.  Between the two of us, we have more than 25 years in the hospitality industry including American Eagle Airlines, The Four Seasons in Las Colinas, TX; The Crescent Court and The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, TX; The Worthington Hotel and The Ashton Hotel in Fort Worth, TX.  
After getting married in 2005, we decided that part of our new life together should include a new business venture in what we know and love best -hospitality.  So, we started looking for a bed and breakfast.  One of the requirements was the location of the bed and breakfast had to be beautiful.  We stumbled upon Autumn Lake - frozen and the land covered in snow in March.  It was between Autumn Lake and another property in Tug Hill and the amazing tranquility and beauty of Autumn Lake made it basically no contest. 

So, when people in this region say, "why would you move up here from Texas?" or "you know we get snow here!"

The correct response is, "There are two seasons in Texas - summer and winter and all you need is to spend a few hours at Autumn Lake to fall in love with this special region of upstate New York.

We have put a lot of work into what was formerly Autumn Lake Cabins to make inviting and warm, wonderful guest cottages.  Mattie's Corner Cottage and Beau's Place are named after the wonderful dogs in our life because there is a longtime association between great cottages and great dogs.  We have both now and are just waiting for the great guests to greet.
