Visit Fort Ontario State, Fort Brewerton and Fort La Presentation and learn about the rich history of the war of 1812 and relive encapments and battles.

There are a number of museums and historic tours featuring the maritime history of Oswego county, transportation and the Underground Railroad.

H. Lee White Marine Museum - features Oswego County's maritime heritage
Richardson-Bates House Museum - 25,000 artifacts, photographs, and documents tracing the area's history
Bridge House Museum: focuses on the history of the village of Phoenix and NYS Barge Canal
Mexico Museum: Rotating exhibits focusing on Mexico's history
** Also when in Mexico visit La Guerre d'Independence - one of two historic  murals in existence that was made in France and depicts America's War of Independence.  (The other mural is in the White House.)
 The Safe Haven Museum and Education Center - commemorates the survival of 982 refugees who fled Nazi Germany during the Holocaust and sailed to Oswego
Rail City Historical Museum - The site of the first steam-operating museum in the United States it houses artifacts and railroad memorabilia
